Msichana camp program is once a year camp during the December holidays. It is a real life, physical safe space for building girl’s agencies for girls between age 9 to 16 years. The camp aims at empowering young girls by training, coaching and mentoring them on different things including talents and role modelling. We demonstrate how skills can be utilized in real world situations and their communities.
Msichana Camp is a space where young girls from both private and public schools across Tanzania interact and connect with older women role models whose success stories are an inspiration to the younger girls and the community in general. Connecting with these women provide girls with an opportunity to be guided through the difficult years of puberty and juggle the many dreams and passions that young girls have, as well as mentoring girls on how to successfully navigate ‘girl’s world’. Girls use the space to develop life long and meaningful relationships through sharing experiences, thoughts, and feelings with others, and this is very liberating. The camp provides an opportunity for girls to live in a very safe and supportive environment while they learn the importance of compromise, sharing, and respect. At the end of the day, girls leave the camp enriched, confident, with a developed mindset and awareness of their physical, emotional and mental needs
